The return window
- Most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery or purchase.
- Items must be unworn and unaltered, in original condition, with original tags and packaging (when applicable).
Holiday returns (2026)
- Most merchandise bought at Macy's or macys.com October 5 – December 31, 2026 can be returned until January 31, 2027. Dyson and Mac Duggal items are excluded, and Last Act merchandise is final sale.
Where to return & fees
- Store purchases go back to a Macy's store, and in-store returns are always free.
- Online purchases can go back in store or by mail. Mail returns are free for Star Rewards members; everyone else pays $9.99 (plus tax), taken out of the refund.
- Refunds go to your original form of payment. Jewelry and watches are inspected first.
Special cases
- Burberry: 14 days, only at Macy's Herald Square, with original receipt.
- Louis Vuitton: 30 days with original receipt.
- Registry gifts: up to 90 days after the event date (or 90 days from purchase if bought after). Without proof of purchase, store credit may be issued at the lowest price in the last 180 days.
- Furniture, mattresses and area rugs have their own return rules.
